Web Site of the Week (CopyPasteCharacter.com)

Every now and then I run across a website that is so simple and useful that I wonder why I never thought to look for a site like it.
CopyPasteCharacter.com is one of those sites. What does it do? It's a web and iPhone application for copying special characters so you can paste them into whatever you are working on (documents, email, etc).
Special characters usually come with typefaces - things like arrows, symbols, bullets, squares, currency and language characters. They can be a little clunky to access. A quick and easy shortcut is a good alternative to using keyboard codes.

CopyPasteCharacter.com is very easy to use. Click to copy a character; if you need to copy more than one, hold down the alt key on your keyboard and click the characters you want. There's a slider bar at the bottom of the page that changes the size of the characters.
The drop down menu in the middle of the page (next to Our favorite set) brings up links to sets of characters - arrows, classic, currency, graphic shaptes, mathematical, numerals, punctuation and symbols. You can view all the characters, sort characters by alphabetical order, and search for specific characters.
Special characters can also be used on Twitter, Facebook, Gmail, and Google Chat. This PCWorld article has directions and a good section on creating emoticons.
HTML Source has a good list of markup related symbols with handy sections on standard letter variations, punctuation, mathematical symbols, greek letters and special spaces with their keyboard codes.

Combining Google Plus with Facebook using Crossrider.

Combining Google Plus with Facebook and Twitter is now possible using Crossrider addon and certainly is the next best thing we can do as Google + is just upon arrival and may need much time to build contacts or to be familiarize with. By merely integrating it to our network of friends in popular social networking sites will simply make things much faster.

googlefacebook

All you may need to do is just go to Crossrider installing page here which is compatible with your chosen browser of Internet Explorer, FireFox and Google Chrome. And view video embedded below which is uploaded by its developer on how the Crossrider addon works after integrated into Facebook and Twitter.

PLEASE DO NOTE that before installing Crossrider extension you should know that there’s currently a thread on Reddit here commented by RogueDarkJedi saying the addon acts like malware and the service is a security vulnerability waiting to happen and the extension is dependent on remote external javascript which Mozilla does NOT approve of such practices for reasons that could lead to MITM attacks and server security.

Crossrider is recommended by most established sites but we just doubt that the extension is completely safe to make use of. On the other hand, if you’ve installed the addon and want to remove it now, you can follow instructions by RogueDarkJedi here.

Imagine being able to sit down at any ordinary computer in an Internet cafe or public library, start up the resident web browser and access your personal desktop – along with your applications, messages, and information – with a click of your mouse button. Then, when you’re done, you simply close the web browser to have all of the documents you’ve just worked on safely stored on your remote server, leaving nothing on the computer you’ve just been working on. This is the goal of the mobile desktop and operating system called eyeOS.

  •  It includes a Desktop environment with 67 applications and system utilities
  •  It is accessible by portable devices via its mobile front end.
